The Rwanda Development Board suspended Baron Sports Gaming Ltd, trading as Forzza, on Thursday for exceeding its licensed activities. The regulator ordered the company to halt all operations and remove promotional materials immediately.
License Violation and Immediate Suspension
The suspension follows findings that Forzza repeatedly provided casino-style games while holding a license restricted to sports betting. The RDB confirmed the license limitation to iGB and stated that continued operations during the suspension period will trigger additional enforcement measures. Forzza reported surprise regarding the decision and noted that the regulator has not provided a detailed explanation for the suspension.Market Expansion and Regulatory Outlook
The license revocation reduces the total number of authorized gambling operators in Rwanda from fifteen to fourteen. Earlier this month, the RDB issued licenses to three new companies: ForteBet and Betway received authorization for online sports betting and casino services, while ElephantBet was approved for online sports betting. RDB Chief Operating Officer Serge Nyombayire told iGB last week that securing established international operators remains a priority for the sector. He noted that companies with proven operational models can assist in shaping future gambling legislation and provide benchmark data for regulatory development. The licensing framework was recently expanded to accommodate additional market participants. The RDB continues to evaluate operator compliance as the national gambling market develops.
